2009 Monaco Yacht Show
23rd through 26th of September brought the Large Yacht Industry together for the Monaco Yacht Show.
Nautical Structures was there again, displaying in the Darse Sud tent; Stand QS70. We enjoyed absolute perfect weather in the south of France, Principality of Monaco; clear blue skies, warm 30-degree C / 85-degree F temperatures, and an industry full of optimism. The Monaco Yacht Show again sold out all available exhibitor space, and the harbor was full of yachts, including a number of new deliveries. Walking the docks it was a pleasure to see our equipment installed on quite a few boats, including the new CMN 64-m Slipstream, Burger’s 50-m Ingot, Alloy’s 52-m ketch Mondango, Trinity’s 50-m Anjilis and 50-m Stanley Z, Alloy’s 40-m Ad Lib, Feadship’s 42-m Lionwind, and Westport’s 50-m Lady Kathryn IV.
Of course there was a week of networking and celebrating. Martin Redmayne and the Yacht Report hosted the Captain’s party at the top of the Fairmont Friday evening; spectacular. CMN Yachts hosted a champagne reception on board the Slipstream Thursday evening; tres bien! The International Superyacht Society (ISS) held a wine tasting at the Monaco Yacht Club where the Business Person of the year award was given to Frans Heesen, and Carlisle and Finch was awarded the innovative product of the year; congradulations. Cayman Islands Shipping Registry hosted a Mojito party; rummy! The British Royal Air Force Red Arrows flew again this year, an amazing sight over and around the Monaco harbor. Of course Nautical Structures and our service representatives L.M. Stabilizers & Hydraulic Engineering maintained the hospitality on our stand with cold Heineken for our friends and clients.
After what most consider a very challenging year it was a pleasure to see the levels of business picking up throughout the industry. Most in attendence agree that there seems to be a slow and steady recovery. We all look forward to the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show at the end of October, where perhaps the momentum of Monaco may continue.
