Folding Crane System
The hydraulic folding crane system (FC-series) is a recent innovation from Nautical Structures.
Initially developed for a well-known yacht builder in New Zealand, this davit system was designed to fold into a compact configuration — perfect for concealed spaces below deck. The FC system elevates and unfolds into a more conventional davit shape. It features a telescoping boom section to maximize the davit’s reach potential and is constructed entirely from aluminum. All hydraulics are concealed within the structure and finished in either a bright anodized or AwlGRIP paint.
For over a decade the EZ-Systems
Hydraulic Deck Crane has proven to be of the highest state-of-the-art yacht crane technology in an aesthetically pleasing design. Perhaps our most innovative and unique design; Nautical Structures manufactures the Folding-Crane design in capacities from 2200-pounds to 8800-pounds (1000-Kg to 4000-Kg), with a hydraulic telescoping boom extending section.
The crane features a fold-over articulating boom design, with a telescoping boom section to enhance the service range of the crane. This Folding-design allows the maximum amount of vertical-height and reach-range in the most space-efficient (compact) stowed dimension. A typical application for this crane is stowed in a deck locker completely concealed while stowed. The crane has been engineered and designed as a true yacht crane, not just another marinized commercial crane. The EZ-Folding
Crane’s articulating aluminum boom is capable of being loaded to its full safe working load capacity in any
position without restriction. The intelligent engineering inherent in this design allows distributed load-deflection across the boom during moments of high dynamic loading, reducing the amount of shock-loading transmitted to the deck. Virtually silent-operating, our Hydraulic Linear Winch
system, a totally non-fouling winch design reflects the innovative and dependably safe operating characteristics built into the extending boom. This feature adds the additional element of operational safety as the winch travels with the boom during operation of the crane. This prevents any possibility of two-blocking the system causing damage to the cable. In applications complying with the MCA Large Yacht Code (MCA-LY2), the Linear Winch is capable of being placed into a free-fall condition with operational control by the operator. The crane features 320º hydraulic power rotation providing the ultimate in tender-handling convenience. Control of the crane is with a remotely operated wireless joy-stick proportional control with an optional-use removable pendant. Sauer-Danfoss Manual hydraulic controls are also provided, located behind a hinged and latched access panel in the boom or in a remote control station. A low-profile bearing platter is the typical mount for the EZ-Systems Knuckle-Boom Crane,
although a standpipe mount may also be used in applications with GRP / composite constructed vessels. The EZ-Systems Folding Crane
is finished to our highest standards. The aluminum structure is chromated and then primed with a two-part epoxy primer. Then the system is faired smooth, and then primed again. The crane is hand sanded, then moved into our heated finish booth where it is coated with a two-part AwlGRIP
urethane spray-applied paint finish in a color to match your vessel. With MCA Large Yacht Code (MCA-LY2) or IMO/LSA-SOLAS compliance, the crane system is static load tested to 2.2 x design load and then dynamic load tested to 1.1 x design load.
