Rotating Overhead Crane
Similar to the King-Post Crane; The Overhead Rotating Crane is another innovative crane design developed for specialized applications. There are times when the overhead of the vessel simply can not contain the length of a beam crane system. Other architectural features may prevent the crane from stowing or the structure section-height of the overhead may not accommodate the typical overhead crane. The overhead Rotating Crane melds the utility of an overhead crane with the mounting structure and operational characteristics of a more conventional rotating deck crane system. A cylindrical shaped foundation or a bearing-platter attaches to both the underside of the overhead. This design permits the moment-load of the crane to be supported by the overhead structure. The crane boom is attached to the slewing-bearing and nested just under the vessel’s overhead. A telescoping boom extension moves the crane’s pick-point along the length of the boom, allowing the tender to be moved outboard while the crane boom rotates. |
