Custom, Residential & Unique Projects by Nautical Structures

Forward thinking is essential for meeting the unique and demanding challenges of custom yacht and home construction. The design philosophy of one well-known Custom Builder is that a good tender handling system is an invisible tender handling system. So when we were asked by this builder to develop a large-capacity crane system that could handle a large Rigid Bottom Inflatable Tender, and then disappear below deck after use we rose to the challenge.
This inovation and flexibility in equipment-design establishes Nautical Structures a premium choice of supplier in any special project.  At sea or on land we have solutions for the most demanding challenge.

Custom Integrated Tender Handling Systems

Custom Integrated Tender Handling Systems

The vessel's structure is smaller, less conducive to mounting and/or displaying the davit system. Not every owner may desire to carry a tender but recognizes the value of having a tender-launching system on board.

Walking the docks at the 2009 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show show you may have seen several new projects delivered by Nautical Structures. We are proud to have been associated with some very special projects recently.  The crane installed on the 52-meter Benetti "Quantum of Solace" is one example.

Nautical Structures innovation, engineering and quality manufacturing is not limited to vessels at-sea. See how Nautical Structures can provide exceptional dock-side boat-handling equipment.

EZ-4500-EX; Boom Extending Crane Mounted On A Periscoping Standpipe System. A specialty project developed with Oceanfast Yachts for the M.Y. Thunder A. We began with our 100,000 Ft/Lb Crane moment structure, modifying its design somewhat to suit the spaces below deck. We then enhanced our periscoping standpipe design to mount the large crane into a special recess provided by the builder.  Attachment points for the vessel’s deck were provided on the crane's boom to mount the covering deck section. The completed integration package provided a system that stowed flush with the deck, with a section of deck affixed to the top of the crane. The tender stowed just aft of the crane in the vessel’s swimming pool!  Once the vessel arrives and anchors on location, the crew launches the forward crew tender. With the tender in the water, the crane is stowed and the pool is filled. The casual observer would never guess that a large crane was stowed just underfoot.

EZ-5500-EX; Boom Extending Crane Mounted On A Periscoping Standpipe System.  Recently another version of the crane integration was developed for the Burger Boat Company 47-m build M.Y. Sycara IV.  We developed the EZ5500EX deck crane to mount on a periscoping standpipe system, similar to the Thunder A project.  The yacht is a call-back to the classic yachts of the early 20th century, and so a modern deck crane would look out of place.  The Nautical Structures crane stows flush to the deck just aft of the upper deck seating, and elevates vertically one-meter for deployment.  Melding modern technology with a classic period look.  This project is another exapmle of how Nautical Structures can work with a shipyard to develop a special project unique for their client.

Other projects have been produced over the years that follow the integrated crane concept.  Delta Marine Industries has built several yachts utilizing Nautical Structures' integrated crane / periscoping standpipe design.  The M.Y. Gallant Lady and the M.Y. Gran Finale are two excellent examples of crane integration.

Davit integration doesn’t always have to be complex or expensive. Sometimes all that matters is that the davit looks like it belongs where it is located on the vessel. This type of integration may easily be accomplished by creating a unique space that mirrors the shape of the davit. Covers may be added for additional camouflage if desired. Nautical Structures extensive experience with this type of integration is your assurance that your integration project no matter how complex or simple, can and will be developed properly to your standards and expectations.

Shipyards have frequently called upon Nautical Structures to help solve unique challenges in customyacht construction.  Burger Boat Company came to Nautical Structures to collaborate on equipment necessary to make one of their builds fully accessable for their elderly clients.  The challenge presented was to provide access to the vessel at each boarding gate, a challenge considering the owners were both wheelchair bound.  The solution was to build light aluminum overhead beam cranes above each boarding gate.  These cranes were man-rated to transport the client in his and her wheelchair on and off the yacht.  The passerelle included an automatic deployed wheelchair ramp that compensated for the deck's camber so the wheelchair can make the transition from the deck to passerelle smoothly.  Little details are important.  Burger Boat wanted their client to have the ability to access the vessel's swimplatform and lazzarette, so Nautical Structures developed a hydraulic scissor-lift to transport the wheelchair from the main deck down onto the swimplatform.
