Medical / Angel Hands & Halo Patient Handling

As we go about our day-to-day business we sometimes forget about the sacrifices men and women are making around the world to protect our freedoms and way of life. Working with other specialists in the medical devices industry, Nautical Structures has developed a series of medical products specifically designed to help those that have been gravely wounded or have otherwise lost their mobility.

One of these, Angel Hands, is a specialized lift apparatus that gently moves under a patient to provide a solid, secure lifting platform—an alternative to the fabric slings that are the current standard. With sling based systems, patients require significant physical manipulation to be positioned for lifting, a task that can be time-consuming, difficult and strenuous for the caregiver, and uncomfortable for the patient.  Angel Hands can accomplish a lift in a fraction of the time, without the strain and discomfort typical of current approaches. Angel Hands even has the potential to be used by a patient without assistance, offering a degree of independence not previously possible.

How Angel Hands Works

Angel Hands lift technology provides a remarkably effortless alternative to conventional systems.  It dispenses with slings in favor of opposing mechanical arms that gently close together to position the person in the seat.

Each arm features a conveyor belt, driven at the same speed as the clam shell mechanism, which rolls between the person and the sitting or laying surface. The person experiences a brief, gentle rolling sensation akin to a momentary massage.

Angel Hands, when connected to the Halo, an innovative rotating gantry crane, moves a patient easily within a 360 degree area.

Angel Hands and Halo can efficiently transfer a patient between non-adjacent surfaces, such as a chair to a bed, in less than a minute.

The system can be operated effectively in an institutional or residential setting, by an aide, therapist, or companion/caregiver.  To view Angel Hands in action, and for more information, please see the following:
